There are two fashion rules every young girl is taught by her mother: Never wear white after labor day and stay away from stripes. Throw those rules out the window ladies, they are completely outdated. Yes, it’s ok to wear stripes. It was clear the stripes have become a real fashion staple. A popular trend found across all runway shows was stripes. All types and styles of stripes were shown: skinny, bold, uneven, and head to toe. Styling and wearing stripes can be intimidating. No one wants to look larger than they are or cartoonish. However, stripes can be very chic when worn the right way. In this look I go in vertical stripes. Vertical stripes create the illusion of length. Girls who are short like me or who want to make a certain area look smaller, should wear vertical stripes. The long stripes cause the eyes to look upward and make your body appear long and lean.
Just pay attention to the width and placement of stripes. If you have wide hips you don’t want to place wide horizontal stripes in that area, instead opt for a dress that has dark medium size vertical stripes to create the illusion of a thinner body. A striped top is the easiest thing to wear with ANYTHING. It may not sound as such, but visually it’ll be a total fashion brilliance. A statement piece is easy to wear, right? You just put it on and let it do the job. Anyway, whatever the case, bold or simple I’m all for it.
What are your thoughts on wearing head to toe stripes? Do you love them or hate them? Let me know how you keep stripes chic in the comments!
As always, thank you for stopping by. Have a wonderful day!
