Can’t take my eyes off this little guy, I can’t believe he’s mine.
I find it seriously hard to believe that I have a 4 month old baby. Can’t believe how time is flying by. Life with a baby is so full of special moments and developments that nearly every day feels like a milestone of some sort. He was beyond adorable, and he smelled amazing, and made the sweetest little newborn grunts. He still waking up for a feed twice a night on average and while sleeping in his bassinet remains a challenge, we have seen our little man change from a newborn that longs to the womb into a (mostly) happy boy that is eagerly exploring the world around him in the past four months. He is so social and wants to be a part of every conversation (no clue where he gets that from) so he won’t sleep if there is exciting things going on. We’ve also had a lot of things happening at our house last month. We took David’s first airplane trip, my little sister got married, and Tabitha (my daughter) started her music classes.
We took 4 month old David to NYC and New Jersey and Pennsylvania to meet family and friends for the first time. The best parenting advice we ever took was to travel in the first 6 months of David’s life. Babies at this age tend to sleep a ton and are happiest being cuddled in the arms of mommy or daddy anyway, so why not do it at 34,000 feet?! Our first flight was a whopping 4 hours ( with 2 layovers!) and little David slept the whole time. Granted, I nursed him practically the entire flight, but it was all worth it. We were even congratulated at the end of, not one but two, of our flights for having the best behaved baby on the plane. Tabitha and Joshua are both so well-behaved as well. At four months, David’s personality was definitely showing through. We felt like we finally knew him as a person (if that makes any sense) and we liked him. We really, really liked him. He wasn’t just CUTE and sweet and all of those obvious baby things– he was funny and so aware, and he seemed so wise. He rolled around in every direction and held his head up with ease. I was ( and still am) constantly blown away by his development. If there is any part of motherhood/parenthood that never seizes to amaze me, it’s the gift of watching life develop before your eyes. I almost can’t put it into words. It is truly amazing to see ( and feel) a human grow.
